About Me

Animals have always been a huge part of my life, whether I was walking my dogs, riding or just spending time with them. This naturally led to an interest in their form and earthy beauty.

At three years old, I told my mam that she couldn't even draw a stick man! Whilst my dad enjoyed photography and graphical drawing, my brother drew fantastic mythical creatures and technical drawings.  Mam's talents lie in her sewing and is now enjoying her pencil sketching of flowers from the garden.

As a family, we enjoyed walking, nature clubs, sub aqua diving and many other outdoor pursuits and often our pets would join us. Our pets ranged from a Labrador to Slowworms, Guinea Pigs to Axolotyls, Cats to Golden Orf.

After leaving school I studied agriculture then took various jobs ranging from silver service waitressing to heavy horse showing, each job giving me ample opportunity to flex my drawing muscles. In 1998 I set up a pet nanny service, Petnanny, caring for all types of pet and this allowed me to meet a huge quantity of perfect subjects, so after selling my artwork since 1987 I decided to take my artwork a little further.

I am surrounded by animals at home, two dogs Flute, Tips the Podenco Ibicencos, Tumble the mad cat and my two Andalusian cross mares Ella and Zaffi.  My partner has a lurcher called Rossi, Buzz and Nipper the two Patterdales so we certainly have a busy household!  My life is pretty simple, I run my Petnanny business with my fantastic full timer Samantha and part timer Alexandra then revel in my drawing a perfect mix of practical and artistic.  Being able to enjoy family life, enjoy my animals whilst fulfilling my dog handling ambitions with my art ambitions makes for a very happy me!

Being self taught certainly hasn't affected my art career and each subject has something new to show or teach me. I have exhibited at The Kennel Club Gallery, London for over six years now and have just finished an Exhibition at Lytham Gallery, Lancs as part of The Ark Exhibition.  I am first and foremost a commission artist and am always happy to undertake more commission though please bear in mind there tends to be a waiting list.  Feel free to enquire and I can give you a timeline for your own very personal piece of art.
